CATA has money for local flood victims

September 8, 2017
As a reminder, local dealership employees who faced flooded homes after repeated July 2017 storms are eligible to apply for help from the NADA relief fund. Additionally, the CATA will match any of those funds disbursed to workers at area dealerships. Employees needn't apply for money from the CATA; the association will be apprised by the NADA of any grants and then match them.

The NADA fund awards grants on a sliding scale, from $100 for losses up to $999 to $1,500 for losses of $20,000 or more, based on damages not covered by insurance or other assistance.
Established in 1992, the fund has donated almost $5 million to more than 8,700 dealership employees in need. The CATA board this month directed $30,000 to the fund to help dealership flood victims of Hurricane Harvey.
"We have needs in our local area, so the directors made a decision to help our members’ employees," said CATA Chairman Ray Scarpelli Jr. "The storms affected a lot of people. This will help our own, when we need it."
By month's end, nearly three times more rain had fallen in July in the area than the month’s historical average.
